OK expats and poms.
Looking into the cost of living in the UK.
I'm trying to way up packing up and heading over to the UK to work in the NHS.
Any advise in cost and what parts of the Country to look at. I'm a jack of all trades in Health Informatics so work should be almost anywhere.

Cols110 is currently living/working in Dubai, and has lived in the UK. Hopefully he'll chime in or give Col a PM.
Traffic.
We did a load of comparisons when we came over for our visit as we were considering emigration.
Your day-to-day living is about the same i.e. food, clothing, etc... Our fuel prices are a bit more but we don't have to travel as far as you guys to get anywhere!
The expensive bit is the housing. Typically, the further you can get away from London, the cheaper it will become but you then have to think more about the commute to work. There are other 'hot spots' which will be around other major cities and tourist areas (where the prices are driven up by people wanting second homes e.g. Cotswolds & Lake District).

Nah disagree Mark. Most Aussies do the same milage as the Uk . In Aus the average k's a year is 20,000 and in the Uk it is 12,000 miles so same. Not all aussie drive around , in fact hardly any do
Most aussie drive to and from work and to and from the shops , same as you lot do in the Uk
The "we drive further for stuff "is just an excuse as to why fuel is cheaper here than in the UK it is not really ture![]()
