Yes, it is true that Landrover produce the most reliable/practical/comfortable 4x4 base vehicle.

But they don't produce a vehicle, "suited for the higher level (harder core) of off roading".

I totally agree with what is outlined on the LRA page in regards to the building up of an extremely capable hardcore vehicle.

LRAs main business is the modification of landrovers (mainly RR and disco).
They have developed and engineered alot of accessories and after market products
for these vehicles to strengthen them and make them more capable offroaders.

I was thinking of using them to swap my manual transmission to an auto (swmbo) has anyone had any experience. I can handle their dyslexia if they can mechanic well ! :D:D

Alternatively can anyone suggest another company in Melbourne who could replace my Disco I manual box for a refurbed auto at a reasonable cost.

Be a bit more specific with what area of Melb you are as there are plenty of shops that will do it e.g.

LRA-Thomastown
Deakins-Carnegie (sp?)
RangeRov-Ringwood
Mornington Prestige-Mornington
Allranges 4wd-Bayswater
Roverland-Boronia

There are a few more around plus a few guys on here that are quite capable of doing the job for you...:D
