I have sub to all the english mags in the past and yes they are good but they are also full of adds just like 4WD monthly. Also the other mags like Overlander and such I just don't enjoy reading they come across as bland.

If you go to there web site you will see that they don't bag landrovers all the time and they do bag each others us will. I go on there every day to have a look around and have never see any such thing happen.

And yes I do sub to there mag I like it:cool:

2 of the Test criteria were that all vehicles would be Automatic Gearboxes and have enough load area for serious travelling/touring.
The Hummer was a Manual Gearbox.
the Mitsibushi, Jeep, and Hummer had woeful cargo areas and were not suitable to carry a couple of days supplies let alone a majot tour.
The Prado hit a Roo and it had ripples along the length of the body, real safe.
The whole test was a FARCE, even when you discount the lack of a Defender, Regards Frank.

I thought both 4WD Monthly and 4X4 Australia staff owned Land Rovers, so shouldn't they both understand Land Rovers and have the opposite problem regarding bias? In fact, I read a letter to the editor in a recent 4X4, after the TDV8 won the 4X4 award, claiming that the mag was baised against other brands as the mag gave the award to the RR two years in a row and all the staffers own LRs.

I agree with most of the above and it is why I have not renewed my subscription for a while. It seems with the change of editor the mag has taken a big slide into "lets all love Toyota" even though the editor is supposed to be a Rover man.
I would ask him to compare a similar vintage Toyota.
We have fleets of Toyotas and there is always 4 or 5 off the road at any one point out of about 50 vehicles.
Our LT is up for a new clutch at 25000kms, has had two sets of brakes complete and I dont reckon will be far off a gearbox. Lots and lots of minor stuff too.

Remove oxygen and or fuel = a little less jappa love !!.

The make most 4wd jornos have as their personal 4wd, a LR. BUT as most readers own Toyotas, Nissans etc and the these companies advertise most heavily, they have write these up well. If the jornos didn't play the game there would be no Oz 4x4 mags.
At least Glenn did turn up at Cooma, did any others?

True very true but as they say money talks and b______t walks.


Then again if landrover spent have the money advertising that toyota does then maybe the story would be different.

I read the lastest 4x4 aus mag while on a plane and they tested the latest D3 & LC200 & Merc and in the end landrover won but some of the comments made in the mag was completely wrong.Like that the Merc and LC had more tech in them than the D3 (even though the D3 has been on sale world wide for the last 3 years):eek:

I don't really care that mag is soo against our brand of cars and I read the mag for ideas and not to just look at landrovers, if I wanted that the I will go and buy LRO or the sort.

In that case they should have left out the Hummer, as it was a petrol not a diesel......
