All the reviews of the LC200 have been underwelming. Even Overland did not exactly ooze prise.
Toyota have the marketing angle down pat ( note also the Pious ) but stil have not made any real headway in convincing even some biased journos to go along with their hype.
Most LC owners I have spoken to are unimpressed and dissapointed as they expected more from a new model they have had to a long time wait for.
But a lot have bought it without looking at anything else, because it is a Toyota. (roll eyes smiley)
    I think Toyota know this.

Exactly, Dad saw the new landy, said stuff that, looks like a shocker,
Ended up buying it, just because of the history, just beacuse it was a land cruiser...

It was a paid adverstisment, Glen admitted it at Cooma he even said there was like 4hrs of footage that Toyota would not let them show.
Also found out that at an offroad "launch" of the 200 at a 4wd park in Vic Toyota had a Patrol there as a comparison but as it was showing up the 200 they actually brought in a Rodeo to show how good the 200 is, man that makes me want to get one bad cause if it can out perform a Rodeo offroad it's got to be good dos'nt it

P.S If it has taken ten years to develop this thing how could no one in the development team at any time stop and say whoo up guys hang on a minute this thing is ugly.

I think you're being unfair on the LC200. It has by far the best traction control system on the market which makes the system fitted to modern Land Rovers look very ordinary by comparison. It also outflexes anything else, with KDSS. The engine is superb, although I'd prefer the TDV8. The only offroad advantage the D3 has is height-adjustable suspension. Crawl control is quite amazing.

This is not to say the car is perfect, far from it. It's still a soulless appliance. Payload is miserable. Third row is below par. Overpriced. Hardly a sportying onroad drive. Etc etc. But do acknowledge the strengths of what is a very good car.

[ note I've not seen the DVD referred to ]

Had an eleco here with a new 200 LC and it could not get to our pump site. Got hung up on the front He was in tears. As a Rave 4 went before him and my old Rangie went around him in a harder spot. Yes they go hard. They have smart teck. But will need major mods to go where we go! I think they are a bit of a soft roader.

Rather than mention another brand of 4x4, how about use ... Land Rover built the roads for other 4WDs to drive on!

    or
Land Rover built the roads for others to drive on!

    just an idea......
