Land Rover Slighted in the 4x4 Australia Mag

Well it had to happen one day, when a reader complained about bias writing of a product review against Land Rover

Letter of the month May 2008, slams a shootout between LR3 & LC200, as unfair bias in the comfort stakes.

LR3 won the most comfortable vehicle third row seats apparantly and this "MD" from Castle Hill couldn't hack it, but Allan Whiting shot him down and said the second row seats were better as well. He also said after all they push the fact that LC is an 8 seater so the comparison is warranted.

"MD" also states who cares about 3rd row seats anyway as "most 4WDers" throw them out anyway, and Allan Whiting again shot him down saying the LR3 seats fold into the floor flush any way.

Allan Whiting also slammed Toyota for doing away with the auxillery tank to keep the GVM down when loaded with passengers.

About time the Toyota crowd didn't get it all their way

My neighbour is a LC fan but he decided to hold on to his current LC rather than get a new one because of the aux fuel tank issue.

He still thinks that the TDv6 D3 couldn't tow his large caravan as well as the LC but I'm not so sure about that.

strange how people think that the landrover deisels have no power... that is until they see me accellerate past them rapidly with 1.5 - 2 ton of boat on the back

what i would give for the tdv6 or tdv8 under the bonnet tho.. they dont sound like they have nails floating around inside the engine

we have the 75 series 4.2td cruisers at work, and they tow... but i wouldnt say any better than the td5, work is that fed up with them now they auctioned one off (that chewed gearboxes) and replaced it with a brand new patrol 4.2td... i really dont know where they found it either..

owner has just bought a disco3 tdv6 too... to replace his td5.. i wonder when he will start buying deefers?

good on the mag for sticking to their guns! tell it how it is... not how the customer wants to hear it..

sounds like MD of castle hill was trying to justify his poor bank balance after the lc200 purchase and constantly filling it up with fuel

    Thanks

    Steve

Just goes to show you're going to upset someone no matter what you write.

Still, nice to see it being Toyota owners for a change.
