Question Best Price on New Defender 110

    Hi All!

I'm looking around for the best price on a new/demo Defender 110 Xtreme (Current model). What is the best price that you have bought or seen one for? Where was it? I'm in Melbourne so local prices would be most helpful. What was your best drive away price??? What options did you get in that price?

Thank you all for your input.

You will be lucky. The new model is pretty much an order and wait list. There would be few if any sitting on dealers floors that are not spoken for. I can not see you getting a demo easily or at too much discount.
    But hey good luck.

I agree. For a vehicle that has up to a 7 month waiting list, there won't be any discounting. Your best bet is to just hit the phones and see if you get lucky. There may be a dealer out there who has one in a particular colour on order that is not yet spoken for.

Dealers are also able to trade amongst themselves. I found an un-sold but ordered one in Rimini Red (nice colour, but not all that popular). The dealer was able to take my deposit on that one then did a couple of trades with other dealers to get the colour I wanted. But I know I was extremely lucky, and I did also have to pay part of the freight cost to relocate the red one down south when it arrived. But it was worth it to get my choice of colour in only six weeks.

Sticker price is $48,990 I think - so with on-road costs generally the price is up to around $54K. Compared to what else is on the market (namely a 70 series Landcruiser) and considering what you get for your money anything up to $60K is still a BARGAIN!

But for that price landrover could have put a bit of putty over the rivets and taken the ripples out of the panels.

None of this crap about character, and nostalgia - may have been fine 5o years ago but not in 2008. Not knocking capability or design.

I hung around the display car at Cooma - and while comments by the viewing public (landi fans) were generally positive, they nearly all commented on the poor body panels - as above rivets not bogged etc - the wives and girlfriengs were most critical and I suspect a few sales did not happen because of them.

Love the basic design and capability but there is more too cars these days - maybe these build quality aspects of the car need to be brought into the 21st century.
