the pickup is like a little wire basket, with the tube in the centre of it. you have nothing to worry about, the aluminium will one day break down and if it gets small enough to get through the gauze, it will block your injectors and screw your motor up.
this may be as soon as about 200 yrs

And I thought this was going to be a thread about putting ULP into diesels etc.
So here is my latest:(sorry for the small hijack)

I am also an idiot.

Last week My darling betrothed put 20 litres of ULP into my diesel RR, as her Petrol RR was at work with me getting some TLC...and she forgot what vehicle she was driving. (Aah, the problems associated with owning multiple Rangies!!:p)That wasn't so bad as My longranger tank has a drain plug and I have a hoist. BUT, the really stupid part is that because the diesel RR was almost empty when she put the ULP in the tank, I thought that I could be a thrifty little so and so and re use the contaminated diesel laced ULP in the misses' petrol RR....WRONG!!!

The results were a cloud of bluey white smoke, and a non going V8...

My Isuzu, however, ran perfectly...at least between the petrol station and the workshop:eek:

I would have though the better idea would have been to fill up the rest of the tank with diesel and forget about it. 20l of ULP in a long range tank surely wouldn't hurt as much as diesel/ULP mix in a petrol car?

Good to see that even mechanics can screw up every now and again though :angel:

JC, I'm yet to do the ULP into diesel thing yet... all the stories here have made me doubly cautious:p.

On the diesel into petrol issue - I successfully run a petrol TE20 on majority diesel, as well as numerous Briggs and Stratton engines on majority kerosene. As for why, I just love the reactions when I'm lawn mowing and people think a 747 is taking off nearby:D

Believe me, the decision to tip the 20 odd litres of contaminated fuel into the LSE was purely a fiscal one!!!!
