    Brivis Ducted Heating @#$%^&* !

God damn heating unit decided to not work and had the service guy come out and tell us the good news, a minor problem with a sticky bearing in a fan but of course the fan motor is no longer available and was a one off for this particular Brivis model. Heater is 12 years old but is otherwise perfect, now the easy repair would be just to replace the bearing in the motor but of course who ever assembled or repaired it last time loctited the LH treaded 4mm screw that held the blade on and of course it sheared the head off when i tried to gently undo it so i could get to the motor to take it out. So if anyone happens to have an old Brivis Buffalo model 85 lying around i need the small centrifugal fan that draws the gas exhaust out the vent pipe - in no position to fork out the $1500 or so to replace the unit when it otherwise works.

Thanks 460 and Clarkie, these are the offending parts, motor is fine apart from bearings and the sheared screw in the end, i thought of gluing the fan blade onto the shaft but it spins at 2800 rpm and i dont want it to fly off and self destruct.

Just drill and tap the end of the shaft?

Replace the motor bearings, you shouldn't have a drama sourcing them

That style of motor is VERY common...
Take it into them with the Fan, they will be able to match it...

Its a Brook Crompton Betts motor and is a common size but the rpm is what makes it unique so i was told, i called Fasco and they said that there is nothing available as a direct replacement. Drilling and tapping the shaft will be possible but its a small thread , if i can replace it easily i will.

Means its a 4 pole motor, not 2 pole otherwise it'd be 1450rpm
