OK - the Provents have arrived!!!
I have just sent out pm's to everyone who hasn't supplied their email address. Please pm me your email and I will send out further instructions. Postage/conditions/etc.
Btw - I still need a few more people. The housing along is worth $200 or so rrp. Even if you need to pay a mechanic to fit it, you probably will still be ahead (in terms of intercooler cleaning costs and turbo lifespan).
Sorry Ben, were at around 25000 to 30000 a year depending on if we do a big trip that year.
On the 300Tdi the installation should be very easy. If the OE hose between the cyclone breather is 1" ID you are laughing. Just cut it and connect the outlet hose of OE breather to Provent Inlet. Connect the OE air intake hose of breather to Provent OUTLET.
Thanks Joel. However - MANN+HUMMEL DO NOT advise using a catch can. Everyone please plumb this in as per the manufacturer's reccommendations I will supply with the elements.
EDIT - the Provent Inlet and outlet are 25mm the drain is 12mm
The engine breather oulet should be plumbed to the provent inlet.
The provent outlet should be plumbed to the engine air inlet (pre turbo) - but can vent to air.
The DRAIN should be plumbed back to the sump. On a turbo engine it is easiest just to T into the existing turbo oil drain as suggested. IF the drain enters the sump below the normal (LOW) oil level, then no one-way valve is needed, if it enters above, then a 1-way valve is needed. However - I will supply everyone with a one-way valve just in case.
****! I'll remove those two incorrect lines in case it undoes somebody.
Maybe we should have a Melb metro fitting session if anyone wants?
Either way there is a sump return line on a Tdi... so it shouldn't be too hard.
