Hi Guys,
In my photo section there is a pic of what used to be the norm for the Defender, I still have this for sale if anyone is interested.
As my wife no longer wanted the Defender, it sits in the garage gathering dust.
$100 delivered anywhere.
It has 3 anchor points along the bar & bolts in under the window behind the 2nd row seat, remove a bolt & a small plate & slot in large plate (in photo) & bolt together.

Got nowhere, and no interest, even when half my family work for the NSW RTA.
It's pretty common to fit a crab bar to a 110. If you want real trouble, try child restraints on a 130 dual cab or any single cab Land Rover.
If you search using, 'child restraint' you should come up with a bunch of stuff.

He's a specialist for odd child restraints and has had experience with Land Rovers. There are also a mob in Hornsby who are the RTA designated administrator of all things child restraint in NSW. Can't recall the name right now, it should be in one of the earlier posts.
Good luck with it, it'd be great to have this sorted out legally and without the crippling costs. My first quote was for over $2500.

Steve certified the install of my rear county bench seats into my Defender. He was more than willing to talk me through what i needed to do over the phone and came to my house to certify it. Easy to deal with.
He's a Volkswagen Synchro nutter so understands our affliction with all things Landrover.
Steve should know what has to be done and who can do it. When you find out, can you take pics and let us all know
10 years ago we got a child restraint (bar) fitted by Garthons when we bought the Defender.

plenty of threads on this, the common consensus varies from state to state, but the one inBushie's pic is the more common solution.
Mate did you ring that streetwise mob? I'm sure ours was less that $300 and it is a registered modification plate, fitted by the people that did the work so I believed it all to be legal?
Range rovers have the same delema one of my rangies had the post type restraint which was bolted through the floor with a large plate underneath i removed it and donated it to scouse for his rangie and ive seen the same device used in fendas :D:D:D
