series 3 fuel tank advise
ok well i thought i would cut my tanks today, done the passenger side first as it doesnt wanna fit back in properly anyway.See i dont like the downwards overhang so i have cut 4 inches on the outside from the bottom up & cut the front & back from 4 inches down to the bottum edge off the inside witch runs just above the bottum of the chassis so its now the same shape as the bulkhead outriggers oh i forgot to mention they are the longrange ones 16 gallons got the nob on the front.but i want some advise on what size thikness plate to use to weld back in place,i was thinking 4mm checker plate & then some 10mm x 2mm strips running lengthways on there edge & tapered at each end bout 4 or 5 of them welded for some more strength & protection what do use think,i am hoping to get the plate tomorrow morning after work ..any advise would be great...thanx guys..
