Bless me father for I have sinned

Might as well fess up before I get dobbed in.
I bought a cheap MTB on Evilbay, cost approx 1.5 tanks of Diesel in the County. The way I see it I have to ride this Plucking Bastie of a torture device for 2 weeks to break even and start making profit, or most likely die trying. Having talked to DiscoSteve about how to set the suspension up to accomodate a fat Bastie, setup the seat so I don't get raped everytime I drop down a kerb.

I got up this morning, looked at bike, looked at County.

Guess which one is locked up at the train station?

Now how you feel, purchased my MTB a year ago and was doing some trails we are not allowed to drive on and get excersise but that stopped. Decided to ride to work, Monday morning 2 blocks from work blew front tyre bike went left i went streight ahead dislocated shoulder and day in HSPand arm in sling, bike in shed and have not looked at it. Wife always says exercise kills.
But i will get back on as trail riding is fun and you do lose wait hope to get back behind wheel of D1 also miss trails. .

What type of suspension do you have on it? pic? Different types setup differently of both spring/shock and suspension designs.

Hi Slunnie, It's basic spring setup front and rear. I took it for a ride up Freemans Waterhole earlier. The bike had been previously setup for someone the size of you. This meant my braking the bike came close to me breaking my bones.

If it wasn't happening to me I'd laugh, loud.

ok, I laughed long and hard enough now.

You can get stiffer springs from the bike shop, and they'll be able to advise you on rates. The other thing you can do, is the spring setup is a bit like a mini coil over. You can screw down the spring support and put more preload into the spring which will increase your static ride height and give more travel to absorb any impacts.

For the shock side of things, if you have an adjustment on it, they have heaps of control in them and the way I setup at least for X-country is to have it so that when I sit in the seat and ride off a gutter, the suspension compressed and has just one upward motion. Others may do it differently.

Also, keeping in mind here, that I have a Giant NRS with air springs and they may be a bit different to setup than yours (or any other!). Not sure re the fronts.... I turn dials but have never really played with that end much.
    Cheers
    Slunnie
