Sadly it will be writen off...... and that does not take much......
I bought a 92 rangie Vouge on lpg and imacculate with 150k on the clock, with a bent door for $1200 from the auction as they wrote it off....
i'll have it fixed for less than $2k all up inc the purch price.... not bad for a $6k car
it doesn't look like too difficult a repair.
Replace the pass side rear quarter or better the whole tub from a wreck (get the capping, drop the capping in to transfield to get galed and get the capping bolts with it as these will be longer or shorter in later model 110s).
Chop off the cross member and replace with RHS (like a perentie) or genuine 110 x-member from a wreck (I have a spare perentie rear cross member in the back yard you could look at if you wanted to do something similar). I picked up a tub for $150 and defender x-member for nothing when I bought a defender disc brake axle for $750. Look around for write offs with lots of front end damage.
You could probably straighten the door with a jack by placing it under under chassis rail.
Another alternative is to drop a ute body on it and scrap the body. You might get something for the rear doors, the roof and the B-pillars. You would still need to fix the rear x-member.

my money is on it being a write off.
Id see what they want to do with it and be prepared to haggle them into marking it up as a repairable write off, paying you out and letting you buy it back at the "wreck" value of the vehicle then set about repairing it yourself.
Chassis damage on older vehicles is not looked favorabley upon by most repair mobs esp if they have to work around fueltanks and ally body work.
I know of one case where a very early defender was written of on the cost of replacing all the glass and redoing all the paintwork after it had been caught on the 80 mile beach during a hell of a storm and got itself sandblasted by mother nature.
I'd be inclined to buy it back from the wreckers and whacking a tray on the back like this one....:cool:

If I had to go 110, I would go one like that.......but it would have to be Diesel Auto so more than likely 300TDI or at a stretch TD5 if someone can work out it's niggles (DAVE).:DQuote:

unfortunately a lot of the nut outs require you know enough about the engine in the first place to be "dangerous".. once you know that much with the kit Im getting together you should be able to get yourself back to civilisation.
