Thumbs up My hats Off to the Ambulance service

My 86 year old flatmate tonite was getting shortness in the breath and had chest pains , asked if I could Call the Ambos and have him picked up to take him to Hornsby hospital , so i called 000 and was put thru to Ambulance services , Within Minutes the Ambulance arrived.

I just want to say thank you to all the dedicated Men/Women that Sacrifice their Night/Day ,Weekends, public holidays, and time away from their own family to help others.

I don't know what else to say.....

Not sure yet I'll have to wait an hour and call the hospital to check up on his condition , he couldn't walk , had shortness of breath , one of the ambulance officers wheeled in a chair and they sat him on that , strapped him in that and pushed him towards the ambulance.

    thank you from Ambo

As an ambo in S.A. it is nice to here feed back from the public as we very rarely see the patient after the hospital.

    Thank you for you’re post

I hope all is well - the ambos do a great job.

BUT - one thing I do not understand in our society - if I have a fire at my house and the brigade is called - the cost of this service is covered through my taxes, if my house is broken into and the police are called then the cost is covered as a public service, however if I fall down and an ambulance is called, as will happen in this case, the cost of the ambulance is not considered as a "public service" but the individual is expected to pay on a user pays basis either directly or through insurance WHY?

Probably because of the abuse of the system like people using it as a mobile doctor or as a transport service "because they can".
