    Yep, we're blessed here.
The village only has 800 people and we have a choice of Toby's Estate, Antilles and Sacred Grounds (on weekends) and depending on who's making it on the day can be (I've sent them back, with a smile and they always really try, all three ) to damned good (the Sacred Grounds cafe is nearly always good or better)

Drive 30km south and we can get excellent Toby's Estate at a great little cafe, so we're well catered for in my little part of the bush.

What ! good coffee is available in Penriff

    Good God man.

Back in my day the only good coffee available came out of a bottle of Bushells Coffee and Chicory Essence.......back when Penriff Leagues Club was a small affair where K Mart now is and the circus used to pitch their Big Top in the paddock where Target now sits in the Plaza.
Back in the days when I had a crush on the Red Cow Publicans youngest daughter.... sigh......

That's where I was heading until I eyeballed the Sunbeam. At the $'s saved its very good and the reviews seem to put the Mazzer only slightly better.

Now as for this Toby's Estate coffee. What's recommended? I hate buying coffee beans on-line as I like to sample what I'm buying so that I know I like it. But at the moment on-line its going to be and this stuff sounds interesting.

The sunbeam is budget and will not last.

For minimal use and outlay, you probably cant go wrong.
For longer use, the blades will heat and transfer it to the grind.
The consistency is also not as good.

I have owned cafes, restaurants and still own a bar.
    The big Mazzer is great.
    Not one failure.(Touvh wood).

Should you be buying coffee online, buy minimal and try.
Should you hate it, just ditch it and no big loss.
Just never store the gear in the fridge or freezer.
    Just cool ventilated area.

Best of luck and happy drinking.

Fail safe is the Woolloomooloo blend. That's what most cafés use. I've had another of their roasts and really liked it too, but for the life of me can't remember ATM.

BTW, their Chai tea is my current favourite. We've been through a lot of chai's in the last twelve months and settled on Toby's.

I look at it from a home use perspective: 2 cups a day. To me that is minimal use. If I was looking at lots of grinds a day then I certainly would have gone with a Mazzer as they seem to be the best.
I believe Sunbeam did update this grinder and it certainly looks and feels solid, much more so than I expected. If I hadn't seen and played with one in a shop I think I would have bought either a Mazzer or Rocky on-line.

Sage words on the buying of coffee. I usually get the 250g bags first purchase for that reason so I'm a step ahead of you. As for storing in the freezer, my understanding is that's better than in the fridge, but still not as good as in cool dry place. Fortunately our house is constantly air-conditioned and so the temperature stays very constant. Good for coffee and wine.

Thanks I'll probably order some in a few weeks once I get through my last batch a friend picked me up in Brisbane. I think Toby's Estate doesn't charge freight either

Not a great fan of Chai tea blends... now Green tea... that's a different story.
