I saw a quote from the Aust. Starbucks CEO about the reasons for their closure - something along the lines of Australians having a more sophisticated coffeee culture than the USA. (I think that means we prefer good coffee which Starbucks were incapable of making.)

I avoid the city as much as possible. I only went this week 'cos I had to attend a medical for work.

Annual medical reviews for Catergory 2 Rail Safety Workers.

I was planning to retire but the funds have fallen so I'm staying on a bit longer.

Ditto - I work in the City and I eventually gave up. I now do not drink coffee at all...

I'd rather drink crappy tea than crappy coffee so tea bags it is.

    Resurrecting this old thread again.

I went and bought a Sunbeam EM0480 grinder back in December. After a lot of searching and hanging around the Coffee forums etc. I'm very pleased with it. At $180 it was a lot cheaper than the alternatives and I'm now trying to find that happy medium between what I like as a grind and what SWMBO likes.

Well that's a lot of help.

    Which roast Simon ?
I'm pretty sure the two cafés here that use Toby's use the Woolloomooloo blend, which is their usual commercial roast.

The local Fish and Chips shop has Antilles (roasted in Tamworth) and it's very nice too.
We're amazed we can get a half decent milk coffee at the local Take-Away (depending on who's on that day, although I haven't been game to ask for a Macchiatto yet )

Thanks for that, I've heard some positives about that grinder. Looks like an affordable alternative to the serious grinders.
We still only use our machine at home for making Chai Latés ATM.
We jump in the Defender and drive the 10km up to town to get a real coffee.

Only 10km I need to fly out of town or drive to Darwin for a better coffee than I can make at home

Strange that site only lists the one I bought. I seriously considered a Mazza or Rocky but they are upwards of $400.
