Ditto the P38A Range Rover book by James (not full of errors but a number) - but so has my "How to Power Tune Rover V8s" book by Des Hamill.

When you see errors, you wonder about the accuracy elsewhere.

However, both copies I have are first editions. Later editions may have fixed them.

That dealer is Discount 4x4's....the place I bought my Disco from.
I'd be wary of buying from them, as their vehicles are a bit dodgy.
I found a lot of problems with mine after I bought it and had it checked out.....things that should have failed a roadworthy.
After months aof trying to get them to fix things, I ended up doing it myself, as I wanted the car running.

Check the car very throughly if you buy from there.

They have "featured" on ACA/TT previously and are well known to MTAQ, and the Qld Office of Fair Trading. CAVEAT EMPTOR

There are about 5 errors just in those few paragraphs!!!

In addition to what Matt said, county 3.9s were uprated to 99Bhp (not perenties though).

Only the military landies (4x4 and 6x6) had factory gal chassis. I have seen about 5 120's in the flesh, and none had a gal chassis. Also, none had factory PAS as far as I am aware.

EDIT - I also find it strange where he says "payload capacity was ONLY a tonne" - didn't the normal (one-ten pickup) have a capacity of 750kg? You had to buy a HCPU if you wanted more?

Matt - I agree about the chassis extension looking a bit dodgy. Seems more than strong enough though. Maybe yours looks worse if it is an early one.

Mine had power steering, three-bolt steering box.

Dunno if it was original or not.

Sound similar to the design/construction of Land Rovers over the years?

Informative book but shame that James taylor is a complete tosser. Had my run ins with him over the years and even have a bit of a blow with him at Gayden this year when i was there, back in May .

Shame he wrote this book but argued with me that Land rover bought in the 300 TDi 90 for public sale in Australia, and my truck was nothing speaical in Aus , and i was stupid to import it , as i said he is a know it all tosser to talk to and does not listern to you at all .
