    Mark Webber

After watching Mark Webber for the last couple of years in the F1's I have come to the fact that he will only ever be a 9th or 10th place driver . what are your thoughts ?

As Kerry O'Keeffe said "you wouldn't get a lift home from the pub with him, because you're not sure you'd make it, he'd either break down or crash"

In answer to the original question, I have no idea. He seems to be a pretty good driver, but is constantly beset with problems, his own and others.

    i'm the first voter...

i'm a f1 nerd/nut/obsessive/etc. i think he's probably the best 1 lap driver of the current bunch, maybe tries to continue that pace too far into some races to make up for the car(s) he drives.

if he was in a ferrari/mclaren i think he'd be able to match the big name drivers. i cant say he would be an opposition destroyer, but as good as anyone is my belief.

in the last race, it sucked when he spun on the 1st lap. for the next 20 or so laps though, only raikkonen(no oomlot's sorry) was consistently faster. this was the only period of the race where everyone was on an even playing field really. i was impressed.

I think his biggest chance was with Williams . It doesn't matter what car he has been in the same problems happen . It's always a gearbox problem or he just plain hits something . And he always seems to have a lot of trouble in traffic in the first few laps of a race . Don't get me wrong you have to have a heap of talent to get into these rockets but i don't think he has got what it takes to be a champion or race winner ...... I hope he proves me wrong .

He blames someone or something else - will only ever be a second rate F1 driver - however to get to be a F1 driver at any level is an achievement.

The question is fatally flawed IMHO.
he has to be one of the top 15 drivers in the world - that makes him in the elite of the elite.

Vehicle plays a part, mental preparedness plays a part, luck plays a part but he remains one of the 50% or so of the field that gets his seat on talent not $$$$. That alone says a lot! good enough to win the championship? you got to have more than a driver, you need the car, the team and the luck... he has none of the last three at the moment.

    .

I dont think that stattement is true.

There are a lot of very talented drivers in very varied disciplines of motorsport, and saying weber is in the top 15 drivers in the world is just not in my opinion correct.

    Cheers

Even a second rate F1 driver is pretty good and m not being in a premium team and even when he was with Williams, it still wasnt a top grade team at the time and were a fair way off the leaders with aero, power and reliabiltiy and not just with Webbers car so I think he still has promis.

I think if he gat a seat with Mclaren of Ferrari I think he would show deffinate pace and realiability wouldnt be such a problem.

Saying that he could have something to do with gearbox failures is pretty hard to comprehend seems they are very highly controlled with electronics so wouldnt change up or down at the wrong time these days and when the had TC and all that garb, it was normally electronics that fails unless he hit someone or something or he would blow and engine which pretty much all of them do with the rules regarding engine changes etc.

The rules have chased him into the middle of the field as they have with many of the other drivers that probably could do better than they do but you know how it is, it's not about winning or losing, it's how you play the game and he is always a nice guy about things even when he's deffinatly not happy.

He is consistantly about 7th and probably wont show much more than that unless something happens with his team.
