Cape york.

my 5cents woth



Cains and back took us 2 weeks and that was not long enough..you will not see enough of the realy good stuff..... You can not drive to Chilli Beach without a HIGH clearence vehicle .....not to mention the river crossings....Weipa...the mine trip is a must so that is 2 nights spent there...I can do on forever..........sugest Fraser Is and pretend......until you can spare the longer time up the cape.....:D

Ho Har ,what about syd-birdsville-alice (through the simpson) back along the plenty hwy to fraser isle for a few days then a quick run back to Sydney?

Hey mate good to here you are heading up too. We should cross paths somewhere or when you are close try my mobile or radio I will PM you the numbers. I have managed to squeeze some more time in to make the trip more managable. Here is my plan of attack.

1st -4th drive to noosa and hang out with family ( wife flying to noosa with baby).

4th-6th drive to Cairns ( Wife flying to cairns with baby)

6th-8th treat wife in palm cove hotel before tenting it.;)

8th-22nd ish cape and back to cairns.

I Will PM you a more detailed itenary for my trip.

Ok although it was some 24 yeasr ago our trip to Cape York took,
3 days to Cairns,
4 days exploring Cairns, Port Douglas, Cook Town
4 weeks up the Cape , went everywere we could
Then back to Cairns
2 weeks exploring on the way home inland

The more time you have the morethere is to enjoy. realy think you need more time , it is or was a wonderfull place and assume it still is.

Thanks Will, got the details. I'll definitely be in touch if I go to the tip, we'll probably cross paths on your return. Rob, you probably sped past me 24 years ago, thats when I was up FNQ for 6 months. I've never done a quick run like this before - not my ideal but better than nothing.
