Tools?

I have a Russian made socket set......have hit it with big hammers and generally abused it and no sign of it even wanting to lay down and die,(Supplier claimed made from leftover steel from Russian Main Battle Tank...starting to suspect he may have been right) other than that I have a complete set of Supratools spanners both metric and Imperial and an assortment of Kingschrome and a couple of sets of Supercheap spanners

I used :mad: to have a full ETC kit of spanners, sockets et al that Target Chermside price marked wrongly (only payed about 20%) pre barcode days. ETC made ETC Industrial in Japan, good kit; & ETC in Korea or Taiwan, silverfrosted rice husks

BRITOOL FOR ME, since the fire that ruined all my blue point , mogy ,snap on ,craftman facom, etc ,stah willie ,Draper ,and Brouder mannsman

Just a suggestion to get wobble bars instead of regular extenstion bars for your socket sets. They're so versatile and a lot smoother to operate at angles than the uni joints. I haven't had any issues with Kingchrome 3/8 wobble bars, but I'm sure others make good ones too. The Kingchrome ones also have a cross hatched section on the shaft to allow easier finger grip, so they're more user friendly on the finger tight nuts & bolts.

Hey folks, following on from another thread about my 2A I am in the market for tools also.

I was looking around the interweb when I remembered having seen kits for trades people such as mechanic, plumber etc... I'll post some links to some sites a bit later tonight but I was wondering will I get reasonable value if I go for one of these kits or should I be doing it differently? It looks like I'll ahve to spend about 800 for an okay sized one?

I don't have the big bucks to spend on the top brands but after seeing a kit for 8 grand I was deciding whether to sell the disco and just keep the series, lol.

I wouldnt buy one of those package kits. Shop around, buy the basics first (suggest enough to put a breakdown kit together) and add to it when you need something. That way, you'll only spend money on what you need and what will work for you. Good tool sets are accumulated over a lifetime.

Swap meets are a great source of quality tools which will fit a 2A - usually plenty of imperial and BSF stuff to be had at good prices.
You can even get lucky at Cash Converters.
