C & E: True. But I'm sure you've all read the back of tickets/signs at motorsport events... "MOTORSPORT IS DANGEROUS" etc... Perhaps because this was a charity event there were no tickets... Maybe the burnout was just part of a larger bunch of events so they didn't think it was a good idea to put it on everyone's tickets or have signs all over the place. Maybe things are just different in that regard over there. It's the principal. Just as he was the one driving the car, they were the ones standing so close to the road. They share the responsibility. Should the team sue the victims or the victims' parents because it was their kids who caused all the damage to the car? After all, if they weren't standing there it wouldn't have happened...

I think if nothing else its a show of support for the guy.

While i dont think Troy is 100% to blame, he as a professional driver chose to push the pedal down in a drag car in a situation a professional driver should have identifed as unsafe(off camber wet public street)

The police are too blame, The organisers are too blame and Troy is too blame. Unfortunatly there are no winners in this situation and people where killed.

That sucks and is just wrong.
May put some pressure on authorities to reconsider following through with charges or may help change the law to something a little more realistic. However it is in the land of "It's my right to sue".
Surely the organisers would have to have insurance and a permit to operate?

The spectators are equally to blame. I can't imagine being so stupid to be beside an unprotected road when there are drag cars accelerating past.

If this goes to trial, then that what affect will that have on car rallies where spectators stand beside the roadway?

I saw the interview on 60 minutes, normally don't watch the show as it has gone do the dogs. But i watched this just to watch the interview as i have been following it in the papers and so forth.

Whilst i agree that Troy probably made a bad decision to fang it as much as he did and should take some responsibility I certainly do not agree that he should be fronted up as the scapegoat. The majority should be shouldered by the organisers

The bloke was actually trying to do a god deed and as far as i know doing a 'burn out' was encouraged by the organisers of the day, including the cops and local authorities. I would hazard a guess that the people responsible for the day would be praying to god that he gets found guilty so they can get themselves off the hook.

I read in an earlier reply that there will be no winners out of this and I have to agree 100%. If anything then i reckon that everyone that was there should take responsibility for it, jeez, did you see where everyone was standing, no barriers, nothing between the cars and the crowd, very poor management.

Anyway, I signed it without hesitation as i disagree fully with Troy taking all the blame ..........
