cant find kids seat bolt fittings in 87 RR

I am about to call the snow trip off due to the fact that I cannot locate kids seat bolt holes to secure the seats. They are not in the floor in the rear, and they are not near the rear speakers in the roof although the LR dealership did tell me they were there.

Does anyone know if a 1987 RR has these from the factory, or does this model not have them. Thanks.

I've put them in two vehicles myself, 1984 and 1988. Factory supplied - NIL. I put them in the floor through the cross brace which you can get to each side of the fuel tank.

Later classics had them in the roof. You can buy the bracket from Land Rover & fit it/them yourself.

Or you can copy the bracket easily enough (and make it a lot stronger).

thanks guys, I was under the impression for some reason that all cars sold in aust 1985 onwards had 3 bolts compulsory, I know my 85 318i had 3 and every other car except of course this one. Thanks again, I will be working this out another day.

That's probably correct but Land Rovers were imported as commercial vehicles so they got around child restriant points & emissions rules for a while.

I had one in my 85 rangie and it would be easy enough to replicate and stronger to boot, it was fitted approx. where the rear most headling buttons are and then used the standard thread size child restraint bolts.

Even up to about 2000 or 2001 Discos only had one factory tether point - in the ceiling above the tailgate. Threads were supplied in the seatbacks for the outboard positions, but the actual tether points that you could clip a child seat into were only std for outboard positions by abt 2001.

So for your RR you may find blankings plugs on the seat backs or more likely in the ceiling hiding the thread. You will need to buy the tether point and bolt from Repco or similar.

If the thread is in situ, it's not hard to fit the bolt/tether point. If you have the Australian addendum to the owner's manual it will tell you if the points are supplied and where they are.

The ADR requires only one tether point I think, as a Peugeot 308 I drove recently only had one, but had threads for the other positions.

Nope. My 1994 Disco has three above the rear door. I think originally only the middle one was visible with a plug in it and the outer two were covered over with the headlining. There is a measurement in the users manual to find the outer two (400mm either side from memory).
When I bought mine it had a new headlining and three plugs.

I'll go with the commercial vehicle thing too. My 1997 dual cab Rodeo had none (one aftermarket actually) and the 2005 and 2006 F250 dual cabs we had for work didn't have any either.

I think the standard for passenger vehicles is to provide three anchor points.

Some vehicles come with a standard mount point - Ford Focus three or four years ago had a place to latch onto in the seat.

In every vehicle I've owned that has come with mount points, I've bought the bolts and metal bits from Kmart, or wherever, and bolted them in myself. Or I've had them installed by fitting stations who sell you the fittings at the time.

Fittings should be about $15 each.

I'd be very surprised if a RR doesn't have three anchor points.

    Cheers

just to be clear, I have about 6 bolt in anchor points, what I am after is the threaded bolt holes. I realise some late model cars also have built in anchor points. I have taken the head lining off and the floor up and my model does not have threaded bolt holes so I will have to think about making some myself.
