yeh i just thought of that soon after i posted that post up. also the electric throttle would be a problem. ill see wot happens with regard to Justin Cooper and then make a decision

As far as I can see, the 300tdi is a pretty basic engine and if you get the parts out from the uk, they don't seem to be that expensive really. A good LR mechanic should be able to fix it for a reasonable price unless it's really stuffed (hole in the block).

Buy my 300Tdi Discovery, drive it home, strip the engine out, sell the rest as parts.

What part of the state are you from (I'm guessing the cold, southern end if JC is looking at your Landy).
I'd ask JC what he thinks, he has a reputation throughout Tassie (and the mainland from what I can see on this site) as a gun Landy man. I would take his advise and see what he can come up with for you.
I must admit it is great to read all the different opinions on the subject.
