I 'forgot' to mention that bit to the Firey's. They were pretty cool though, one of them used to own a Disco, but sold it when petrol got to expensive.

IMHo the correct emergancy procedure is...
attempt to shut of the gas flow further upstream, all tanks are ment to have a manual isolation valve to the filler, find it then close it some of them are stupidly difficult to get to. But due to the lack of times they have been required it may no longer be a requirement...
If gas is venting and it cant be stopped and its only a small total quantity with the offending item isoltated from potential ignition sources you let it vent with the appropriate FFE on hand. It does make me wonder why the fireys didnt know this one...
The fill port is just a glorified nitto type fitting IF you ever get one leaking us a plastic drift and plastic hammer to "bounce" the inner part till it seals.
