    Angry well that hurt

Well I had a very close call today.
I was stopped at a set of lights while riding home today. all of a suden I hear tyres screching behind me... then bang. A lifted pootrol ran staight into me. He's rig was so high that the first thing that hit was his winch to the back of my head. very, very low speed but it stil bloody hurt. big crack in my hemet and a sore neck/ head. but all round ok.
I pull over a he's first repose was you ok...
    uh I guess.
cool... so we dont have to report it.
at this point i'm completly stumped.
later found out the bloke is uninsured

what idiot drives that sort of truck with no insurance???

well thats my rant for the day.
    cheers steve

Surely if he is registered then he has 3rd party personal insurance that would cover you, or are you saying he wasn't registered?

If I hit a cyclist and split his helmet there is no way I would leave until he was well and truly walking about thinking clearly. Then again I am not so stupid to not have insurance either.

He should not have let you ride home, or at least escorted you home. Knocks to the head don't always have an immediate effect, sometimes they take a bit of time to really hurt (not that I really know what I'm talking about).

    Thank god you're okay.

    Cracked your helmet?

I'd be getting an xray, that sounds like a hell of a hit.

    Cheers

He most likely realises that all the uncertified modifications he has made to the vehicle will render any insurance he has on the vehicle nil and void if he was travelling a few kilometres faster and put the winch through your head. Consider yourself lucky he was travelling at a reduced speed and learn from the lesson, get you car certified for road use and engineered for all of the mods before your in his situation.
