    Question Markings painted on chassis

I posted this in my project thread, but nobody has had any good ideas as yet so I thought I would repost it here.

My Series II chassis has the number "79" painted in grey/white paint in two places. One is on the mid chassis member (correct name?) and the other is on the RHS rail.

Does anyone know what the significance of these marking is, if any?
