Just noticed this bit, I have shipped a Cummins 4bt from the US and a NV4500gearbox also a South Bend Clutch and Cummins flywheel all by Air so I have some idea. The performance alloys are rated at 1400kg so they will be the least of your worries.

Does anyone know where to get a good set of heavy duty rear 130 coils. also does the 6x6 perentie use a special rated coil or are they just standard 130 coils with helper coils. like my 130 ambulance came with. If you have a spare set PM me. lets make a deal :D

I think the 6X6 perentie used an inverted cart spring on the rear.

G'day all,

Need some tips on heavy duty suspension as I mentioned above my camper is all over the place steering is poor and it has a lot of side to side sway. It is not fitted with a front anti sway bar and the rear bar is the same as a standard 110 seems a bit thin to me so I was wondering if I installed air bags fitted inside the rear coils would it be enough. It has no weight to it yet as the interior is just an empty shell. But that will change when it's built and loaded with our gear. also I'm going to swap the V8 for a 4bd1-t Isuzu so the front end will be really heavy as well. Any good ideas.

Do you have water tanks fitted and are they low on the body/chassis, have you tried driving with the water tanks full, should give you more stability. Make sure you have everything that is heavy packed low, unless you have driven it with everything that will be going into it, you will not have a true indication of what it will handle like, Regards Frank.

Good Point Frank... any idea on what the Gross vehicle weight for a 1991 Defender 130 is. Can any one tell me the who makes the strongest coils I can get for the front and rear. Any other tips on suspension set up would be great.

Sorry can't help with the GVM, it should be on the Compliance plates, I would also be increasing the wheel track with offset rims or spacers, Regards Frank.

I'll have a look for the plate, But with army trucks thing seem to go missing. The plates on the british army trucks here are on the seat box and the brake booster housing. I've had a few army rovers that had both seat box and booster swaped with those from other rovers so the only way I could tell what the real serial number should be is by looking at the Chassis in the front wheel well. I like the idea of spacers what would be best aluminum or steel.
and would 30mm be enough.

If you go spacers I would go with steel, any gain in width will help your handling problems, Regards Frank.
