Well the Poll has proved what you set out to hasn't it....:p
Looks so far like most people have suffered mechanical failures.
There's a suprise.....
As has already been pointed out, there aren't really enough options.
Electronic and Electrical failures are entirely different.
is that supposed to be
rovertech @ mac.com ? knowning barry he would say i have been sending you emails for weeks and you never reply yes of course i put AT in :D :p
A self induced elec drama. Lesson learnt. Secure the Battery properly! :wallbash: I hit corrogations and the batt left it mount and arcked out on the batt box side wall, for some reason the hand brake cable took the amps and fried like fuse wire. Disconect the batt allow the computer to reset then back too life. Oh that was after a 26km lone walk to Banalbo for a auto sparky.
Learning the hard way, Easo
Last week, Broken supra gearbox in the ute, I trailered home behind the landie after making it the 3 blocks back to work in 4th and ringing the one who loves me to come and get me.
TD5 Disco, never let me down in 8 years ownership since new, although I did have to fabricate a turbo hose from a Ford radiator hose at Croyden.
300TDI disco, Flat top back to dealer from Goulburn after service, they forgot to tighten the water pump pulley bolts and it sounded like the pistons were hitting the valves. Flat top back home after blowing a heater hose and cooking the head, just after a service also....
The ute in a previous incarnation had to be trailered home after the timing chain slipped a couple of teeth and she would proceed no more.
Thats about it, all mechanical.

Tote
That I can remember for the defender
1) broken pressure plate - drove home
2) cracked fuel tank - temp repair drove home
3) leaking fuel guage sender - drained half tank on roadside to jerries - drove home (after dealer replaced tank and failed to fit sender correctly)
4) sheared off injector line - crinked over injector line and limped home
5) sheared off injector line - non-genuine replacement for above while awaiting delivery of OE line - tilt bed as wife driving
6) burnt out headlight switch - cut off switch and soldered wires together on side of road to continue trip
7) sheared off bolt on belt tensioner -tilt bed
8) fuel lift pump - limped to within 1km from home in low range and about 300 m of hill top from where rolling home is possible - tilt bed
9) fuel injector failed and fell apart - still driveable but horrible engine destroying noises - so tilt bed
10) siezed relay on spotties leaving them on when on dipped beam - fun for oncoming traffic! - pulled the fuse - drove home
11) intermittant alternator fault - failed to proceed on many occassions - jump start from second battery until worked out and replaced alternator
12) falied clutch master and slave cylinders - drove home
13) rear wiper motor shorted and blew fuses leaving no lights - replaced by wife on roadside in dark via phone instuctions - dark and rainy night - not happy!
Many more but these were the most eventful as they generated some roadside distress as oppossed to usual problems that can be fixed at leisure. Mmmmm why do I own a landrover esp. given that despite suggestion to contrary from above it is well maintained and serviced.
Only been recovered twice in 46 years of legal driving, and both in the Disco. Last Friday due to ignition lock jammed, and yesterday due to a blown radiator hose.
In my mini as a young bloke number two out the side of the block and to give the car credit that little piston kept rotating and poking out its shiny head..:D:D.
Never in a Landrover though.
