I somehow cracked an invite to the premier, the 39th batt ( all 20 that are left of them) were there.
I dont think they were all that impressed with the language. There were a few grumbles, especially as quite a few of the wives were there too. I overheard one say - we never used that language..

On the way in, the Kings carpark next to the cinema was flooding badly. Guess who the culprit was? a white defender with a roofrack totally took out a sprinkler & managed to rupture the pipe. Nearly made us miss the start of the film.

The Duke of Edinburgh group from Nhulunbuy trekked the track in June. 29 went and they all completed the hike. When they got back of course one ended up with Malaria although the other 28 tested negative.

    That's my boy!

    Not Sure

I went and saw it when it was on at the movies, i also watched most if it again last night.
Now, I'm no expert but ever since I was a young lad i have taken a keen intrest in all things military. I've lost count of how many boxes I have full of books on WW1, WW2, Korea and Vietnam. even joined the navy when i was 16 and did 10 years.

I've read about a dozen books on Kokoda and although the movie was ok i reckon it really didn't do the whole thing justice. I'm not really sure what they were trying to achieve with the film, there was so much that they left out, so much they could have done to give us a visual appreciation of what those blokes did.

Anyway, as I said the movie was ok, it just left me a little empty that's all. Maybe it is my fault because I knew so much about the whole campaign priot ot seeing the movie.

If you did like the movie and you would like to know more about it do yourself a favour and read a book called .... 'A Bastard of a Place' .... written by Peter BRUNE. The best book on Kokoda I have read, not only covers Kokoda but follows it through to Milne Bay, Gona, Buna and Sanananda. The book basically covers the whole Papua campaign in good detail ..... damn good read .....

Please don't have a go at me about my thoughts on the movie, I still liked it, just could have had a bit more detail .......
