I guess to illustrate I should share some personal info - my backpiece is a permanent memory of the loss of my former partner and our unborn child. It nearly claimed my life too - this dragon I bear rising from the flames is my affirmation to carry on.

I don't think I've commented on any particular artwork but I understand why you have yours. I can only offer my condolences for your loss. I can't imagine your pain.

In my case, I see my late son in the pictures on the walls and in the photo albums (and in the other things around us that remind us of him).

It gets easier with time, and I carry them with me wherever I go. Glad you have the photos and reminders - they're important.

Not a problem mate - I wasn't having a go at anyone, just saying that I'm always extra careful when it comes to expressing my own opinion of others' body art. Tattoos are usually fairly "close to the skin" so to speak
I'm probably a bit passionate about the subject though - which is why i tried to pull back on track.

    so who's up for a Tit-too?

Scarification - its been around for thousands of years - used to be how tribal boys were marked as men.
More popular among women these days than Men - apparently they have the higher pain tolerance required!!

    Dobbo,
Sorry to burst your bubble but there are a lot of people on this forum sick of your offensive and often personal attacks on people and their beliefs. If you have an argument based on fact or belief, bring it, but there is no need to insult people. You often tend to hide behind the vaugness of your posts but is often apparent who you are targeting.
I have to say I would actually love to see you call me or my wife cheap and tacky to my face, because I would not tolerate that crap as it is a personal insult. Both me and my wife have one. Hers is Elvis as she is a huge Elvis fan.
There are many of us that see it as a freedom of expression or art. That does not make us bad or cheap people.
It is a big decision to get a tattoo and one that should have long and considerable thought put into it and yes there are some crap ones around. Too many kids rush into getting a tat and do regret it. Ultimately I would not get one on normally publically exposed body parts, but thats a personal choice.
Nice that you seem to tar everyone with the same brush, so a lot of our military personnel, ex pow's, athletes and tribal indigenous people are all cheap and tacky for having tats?
This is not about arguing your opinion, you are entitled to it and not to like tatoos, but you are not entitled to slur people on their personal decisions that have absolutely nothing to do with you.
It shows very poor taste (I could easily get insulting and personal here, but that would not be right) to have to take an argument to a personal level, for no valid reason and not keep it on the merits of fact.
Look forward to your next post as no doubt you will have something insulting to say, but this is where I leave it in context to your posts.

Not a big fan of scarification or self mutilation, but each to their own and as long as they are happy to live with the results and consequences of their actions. Like has been said a lot of this has been going on for hundreds, even thousands of years.

    Dobbo,
Plenty of people with a much higher than yours or mine have tattoos.
To Judge some one by the fact they have ink would be like judging you by the way you seem to steal oxygen............
