Reading some of your posts if you choose to judge people on looks then I can guarantee you will miss out on talking to or being friends with some of the most amazing people!!
Is it possible some big nasty person with Tattoos scared you as a small child?
Your right, I know some very nice people with tats. I know a lot more deadbeats with them as well.

So on first impressions how does one distinguish between the two? If you had to employ someone to represent your company, the two best candidates have identical qualifications, references, experience etc...

One has a visible tatoo around the collar of their shirt.

Political correctness, equal rights and all that crap has nothing to do with it, human natural and societies standards do. The tat wearer will get discriminated against 99% of the time.

We all have scars, some of us don't feel the need to display them in a look at me expression, we are not that insecure

That is quite true. We were a bit lost in a dodgy area in London, and we came across this big bloke with his whole face tattooed who looked like he might have wrestled crocs for fun, but he was the nicest bloke. Told us where to get the right bus, and even walked us down the street to point us in the right direction. You can't judge just on someone's looks how you think they will be towards you.

I really cant understand why anyone would want a Tatu, I would have thought that peevish nasal voice shouting "Da Plane, Da plane " would be enough to put most people off.

Mate you are so intent on being defensive you are missing the point. Firstly, many tattoos are not on display. Secondly, many tattoo stories have nothing to do with "scars" by which I assume you mean emotional.

Finally many people who get tattoos are so secure in themselves that they get them despite of any discrimination that may come with it.

In my industry, all else being equal (which never happens) I would hire someone with a visible tattoo over someone without. A programmer with confidence in themselves is a major asset as they tend to have better people skills. Don't know what industry you are in so will not make a judgement on your preference.

Different tattoos do send different messages and for the wearer not to acknowledge that is naive but as a general rule simple discrimination against them is VERY old school. Intelligent progressive managers will make a judgement taking into account a broader context.

Dobbo, the part I think that is p1$$ing most people off is that you seem to think that tattoos seem to need an emotional scar of some sort to have one.

I have 7 different tatts & will have a new one once our new bub is born as a celebration of my new child. Now if that's an emotional scar then I am happy to have it.
