Road Rage, who gets it?

Had a kid do the little pinky thing to me once, I was driving normally at speed limit, he must he been about eiht or nine years old.:o:(:angel:
My wife, driving to work in her business suit, had an old fella do it to her once, very slowly she raised her (not lttle pinky finger) she said his expression was priceless.:D
She loves the Top Gear Ad. great reply to the government Ad. At least that one makes folks laugh :D instead of setting one motorist against another. :mad:

:soapbox:I think every one should do a defensive driving course as part of there driver training before they get there licence
I did one many years ago,when I worked for a well now coach tour company down in victoria,we did the course at Lang Lang in a bus and semi trailer,that was in 1975,the coach company is still going.they brought over a American ,who was the main driving instructor for greyhound in the states,the course was over two days,first day was in the class room, we watched videos,of bus and truck crashes,some of the bus crashes were horrible,I remember to this day a picture of the old lady's hand bag with her finger nails broken off and stuck in the hand bag,she must of squeezed the bag at impacted,she died at the crash site.
second day was on the proving ground,doing 360,s and learning about aquaplaining on wet roads,also road rage,and how to stay focused.
Best training I ever done,helped me out countless time in my driving career.
Young hoons and (old one,s )should be made to watch the same videos as I did,they would never speed again:cool:

Seen,ALOT of varying vids, doco's etc........never stopped me, visual impact rarely has an effect, except on the impressionable, its only when its close to home, i.e. a family member, it has a chance of working, even then, old habits and all that;)

The videos you watched may not have been as graphic as the ones that I watched,I sat thought countless clips of smashes of buses and trucks,and yes it did affect me,may be I am impressionable....but it did change the way I drive,in 38 years never had a accident in a truck are bus,and only lost one point in 10 years,and that was for a log book violation. Keith

I had to laugh the other day.

The cops quite regularly use our driveways at work for speed traps and to congregate for drug raids etc and on Thursday it was time again for another congregation of some sort.

Out of 8 cop cars, 7 of them had their drivers and some of the passangers as well talking on Mobiles as they pulled up off the main road.

I can just imagine how many people they have pulled up for talking on mobile phones when they do it all the time.

I have to say though, most of the coppers around our area are pretty good, I rarely have to use my phone while driving and normally turn it off but if I have answered it I normally say hang on and pull over as I dont multi task all that well anyway.

I have driven past cops with the phone in my hand but not to my ear and they have just given me the naughty naughy finger shake and kept driving.

The army has some pretty gruesome ones. Mechanised death was one that I recall. They bombarded or,tried to, our transport unit with these. On about the third one we were laughing all the more ,the more guts & pieces of people that was screened. It just lost its edge. I know peer pressure and all that comes into play, and laughter can be infectious but halfway through the Captain cracked it and turned off the projector and told us to p!$$ off. Maybe it had a long term effect, who knows. I'd forgotten it till this thread.:angel:

You post was really good and tru, but your last line kills it. Now this is where I beleive it all goes wrong. Speed is NOT the be all and end all of road safety. It is over represented in crashes.

As you say we need to educate people.

In Germany (according to the guide to driving in germany):
- All motorists complete a First Aid Course
- Defensive Driving Course
- All Vehicles must carry a Fire Extinguisher, First Aid Kit, Safety Marker and a vest is advisable.

Frankly our Governments Road Safety Attitude is utterly appalling.
