Thread: Anyone owned dobermann's

I use to own one a few years ago.He was black and tan and called Brutus.When i moved i had to give him up One of the toughest things i did.Luckily he went to good home where i got to see him now and again.He is now 13 yo and still looks great.They are a very intelligent dogs and would do anything for there owners.They are very gentle and can be protective at the same time.I originally wanted one that same colour as yours but ended getting a black and tan.Maybe in a year or two i will get another puppy doberman.Its sort of ironic really.When i was young i got chased on my bike by 2 of them and it scared the s%$t out of me.And many years later i ended up buying one. By the way its a great looking dog.

as you can see great dogs for helping with the landscaping and providing dinner ! nice dogs dullbird and siska.
so dullbird has 'Khan' been a 'pound puppy' or just a dog someone didn't want ?

pound puppy.....and is going to be looking for a new home in the not so distant future along with another brother and a sister

And this is my current dog on the left Sammy.Shes a Rotty x Labrador and the other is my sisters dog Phoenix the Husky.

My girls play with a couple of Dobermanns down the park , one of them is even from croydon in the uk

We've got a 12 year old female, who is probably on her last winter with us unfortunately, and next weekend we are getting this little ball of trouble:



She has been a fabulous dog and I'd recommend a Doberman to anyone with enough room in their backyard. They need a lot of running, so no good for a small place.

Contrary to popular belief, and concurring with comments above, they are very soppy and soft dogs, and excellent with children. Hence, another one before our old girl passes on.

Having said how soppy they are, if you met mine on a dark night around our house she will scare the cr@p out of you with her bark.

Dobermanns,my favourite dog by a country mile,G.S.P's,second.
had our bitch put to sleep after 14.5 yrs ,it broke our hearts.
They are just wonderful family dogs,& adore children.

they do need strict disciplin,and lots of space.they are very easily trained,but you have to be firm,or they will walk all over you.

they are also very smart,& get up to all the tricks in the book.

you need lots of patience when they are young,the dogs especialy seem to take a long time to grow up.

they also are often one person dogs,that is they listen to one person in the family more than anyone else,but are still loyal to all the family members

my wife then bought a sharpei.....and thats another storie....the kids call him stupid,and i get the....dad cant we get another doby at least every week or so

they say once you have a doby,you will always either have one or want one

Beautiful dog. I have always liked them, if I didn't have a Shepherd it's one breed I would consider having. Reputations mean nothing. I have had German Shepherd's all my life and never had an aggressive misbehaved one yet, IMO it comes down to how they are treated. Here's a picture of my 9 y.o. female 'Ruby'.

If you want any specific advice I would look up to see if there is a Doberman Club in NSW (I would be surprised if there isn't) and get some advice. Hope Khan finds a new home soon.

i dont need advice, i'm already talking to dobe club.....only put this post up to see if people own or looking to own dobes..

have to say some funny looking dobes have been posted up..never seen them with such long coats
