Yes, my family has had many dobermans over the years. Parents still have one now, same colour as yours.
People who know nothing about them tend to think they are dangerous dogs. However, they are extremely intelligent dogs and can be trained to do almost anything. If you see or meet an agressive doberman it has probably been trained that way.
Good solid training is essential as they do need to be kept under control (and it is more rewarding).
Very loyal and loving dogs, and good with kids.
There's an old movie called "The Amazing Dobermanns" where a guy trains 4 dobermanns to hold up a bank and get away with the money in little satchels on their backs - very funny movie.
And my favourite thing - you will probably never have any jehovahs witnesses bothering you again.

My parents also has owned Doberman. They are a lovely natured dog. Brown/chocolate doberman's never seem to be that common, but it is the much nicer colour.
Their reputation as a savage dog is down to their heritage (to guard debt collectors). Myself I prefer the other great german dog - das Kurzhaar.

Great dogs, had one several years ago called "Zeuss". As with all large breeds be aware of Hip Dysplasia and Gastric torsion issues.
The Ugly Duckling-

a master of invisibleness.
Never owned one, but I've been bitten by one when I was younger. A friend of the parents used to have it, they called it "naturally trained", which means they never trained it at all. I was swimming in their pool, went to the side for a rest and the bastard came over and bit me on the head.![]()
He's a nice looking boy.
I've never had one but do like them as a breed. Although personally I am not a huge fan of any of the guardian breeds.
That being said I am quite often criticized for my breed of choice,
