You lucky, lucky bstard - make sure you tee up a publicist before you go.
Wife and I are flying up to Cairns on thursday morning for 4 days fully funded, flights, tranfers, accomodation and all meals included
All we have to pay for are drinks and some activities.
Am planning to go diving on Friday and at this stage it looks like we're going to have to go with Silverswift, a large operator out of Cairns with up to 80 people onboard
Not sure i like that idea, has anyone been out to the Barrier Reef on this boat? Any other suggestions on smaller dive operators that do day trips out of Cairns? We want to do 3 dives so we need to get out to the reef post hastebut would love to avoid the tourist hoards if possible

I used to teach Scuba Diving in cairns and Townsville.
I worked for a company called Mike Ball Dive adventure.
They were great.
Pay a little more and get food included in trip and all equipment. Saves you taking up yours and cleaning.
Just need a stinger suit. Take own Mask and snorkel and fins though, they are always personnal gear. Not sure but think a computer is now mandatory.
Most diving up there is brilliant.
Do a shark dive if you can, no cages and they do a feed on ocean floor, its great.
Enjoy and don't fly too soon after your dives.
Enjoy
you could try this old pearling lugger that i went on a few years ago, oh hang on that was 10 years ago now, cant remember its name correctly think it was called the "fulla" or something similar, popular with youngins & backpacker types but got two really good dives & only 15 on the boat (including crew). Don't rush onto the sandy atoll they take you to as everyone else on board does that, trust me sit back and let everyone do that cause the next dive when everyones on this atoll is when ya get to do another dive & hand feed the fish that hangaround the boat after lunch. All is supplied.
My mates who dive rate "reef magic" for day trips but they do yocals discounts > which may be the reason... All the big operators will have hoards of terroists... Mike Ball and a few boutique operators that only take divers may suit your requirements better.
Ill be out on the reef on friday too, weather should be good 10-15s. This time of year, depending on where you end up vis should be awesome...
Enjoy
