Weeds,
The rates are defined in the awards. We are currently paying our electricians $0.69 per Km.
Cheers.
had this discussion at work today
at times we need to use our own car to carried out work business, the company acknowledges this and allow us to claim an allowance for each trip
the current rate is $0.55/km....apparently its been this figure for years
i think its reasonable however the cost of fuel has probabyl/nearly doubled from when it was first worked out and the cost of maintenance has risen as well
what does your employer pay?
keep in mind this is not making a claim at tax time

I get $0.65/km if I need to use mine.
the ATO has the official rates, btu they vary depending on engine size. I know taht my wife's company charge a client about $1.50 a km for her to travel as a consultant![]()

This sounds like a reimbursement, not an allowance.
An allowance is paid whether you use the car or not. Its taxed (unless you lodge a variation) & it appears on your PAYG summary at the end of the year.
A reimbursement is just an expense claim like any other expense. Put the claim form in & get reimbursed accordingly.
