Ormeau - New Quarry planning application
Just to let anyone who likes the Ormeau 4WD tracks, there is a notice of a new quarry application to dig out at the Cliff Baron Road end.
Looks like this area will go. As far as I can tell, it certainly includes some of the areas we use.
If anyone wants to object I can get the phone numbers.

not much point pete, the whole area is earmarked for quarrying then after the rock goes to road fill and other bits like bricks and paving the flat land remaining will be housing,
4wd's get to play in there because they just don't want to spend the dollars keeping them out.
i did think that it was state forest, which will need a rezoning to quarrying, but the forest is crap and not worth the effort to the authorities,
and gold coast council is aware of the benefits of putting thousands of houses there.
it is a shame that council positions are attractive to developers.

I agree Harry, There is a whole lot of development planned as far as I am aware too. Still a bit of a shame though as its a nice place to go.
Oh well!

worth going into the council though and see if we can get a good map showing exactly where the quarry is and where we can still play

I was told several years ago that there was no legal access in Ormeau.
Is this not the case?
Cheers, Steve

access 4 us
just wondering , would it be a good thing or a bad thing for several of us to arrange to show up at Ormeau and maybe take a local government member for a tour of the tracks that are used by aulrovians. Showing responsible, safe use of the area etc. etc.
I haven't had a chance to get there yet but its close and do plan to go soon. would hate to think of another place that is lost to 4wdriving.
