Best wishes to all those whom are in volunteer and professional fire brigades, we're ready for another rollercoaster ride up here in the Mountains. Keep the fluids up, stay safe.

i dropped in on a forum member that is in south east queensland at the moment on standby with 3 helicoptor water bombers.........great bits of kit and it was interesting finding out how they operate

i reckon it would be fun hooning around in a chopper but lets hope the three stay on the ground for our fire season

The pilots do a great job, they can be sooo accurate with their water bombing. We have a panel made out of old railway flags to direct the pilot to the problem tree we need dousing, works a treat! I hope the helicopters are not required this season too, but sadly we've had them up every time. Cheers.

Our brigade's AGM meeting last night. I got elected as president, which largely means running meetings. I suspect they think I am getting too old for firefighting!

Been very quiet - last season total activity, one hay truck fire. Let's hope it stays that way.

Hope it is quiet around here too. Have some training coming up for House, Car and Gas fires at the Wangaratta training ground so that should be interesting. I also believe we are getting a visit from a prototype Pumper that will be similar to the one we are getting to replace the old one.

Good one John, the Pres. does do a lot for their respective brigades, hope your training is good Gillie, sounds like you've got your work cut for you! If you need us John, you ring, we bring! take care.
All the boffins are suggesting that there will be substantial fires out west again, but they do say this each year, the grass is looking pretty cured out there though, we'll see how we'll go, I guess. Best wishes to all, CFS, CFA, RFS, SAMFS, NSWFB, MFB, QLDRFS, etc, all great people...

We've been turning out 2-3 times a week for the last month. Mostly prangs, but also a few grass/scrub fires.

Our zone has a 3550Ha fire running in the north at the the moment. Thankfully the National Sparks and Wildfire Circus is providing the crews for now.

To all you other firies out there, stay safe

At least locally we are not going into this season on the back of extended drought, things are still fairly moist and we haven't done much in the way of HR for the last two years. Whether we are in for a good/bad/indifferent season who knows.

Just remember the aim at the end of the day is to return home to the family.

Monday was a scorcher where I was( s/w of Gatton) .(42deg) Had a grassy start but was stopped in quick time. Could have been a lot worse with strong sth winds at 25+ knots blowing.
    Yep,summers coming.
