just wondering what grease to use to lube driveline., tailshaft's more so. i see there a few grease nipples to do so, does any one have a specific brand/type or any pointers in doing this, kind regards
use any HD wheel bearing grease youve got and do it with the wheels chocked and one wheel thats driven by the prop shaft your greasing off the ground. you will need to be able to rotate the shaft to get the Ujs into position where you can both see and get the grease gun onto the nipple.
If you dont have a grease gun the 250g/300g one hand grease guns from supercheap are excelent for this job.
lay a tarp down before you start or buy a creeper
clean the grease nipple and shaft before you try to grease it. it will let you see any damage and prevent crud being pushed in by the grease
if you do it every month or so one shot only, if you only do it as part of a 10,000k service 2 shots.
clean up the excess grease prior to driving off and it will save you from spraying it over the chassis and other stuff. DONT use a degreaser. I use a rag like a pull through and "saw" the grease out.
