In all honesty, I think the biggest whinger in Group A / V8 Supercars or anything else you care to call the category... was Dick Johnson. I wouldn't have called Murph a sook and I most definately would call LP at sook in the slightest - he is way to analytical and fiery for that (off the track), and he certainly calls a spade a spade.

Cracks me up how all the Ford supporters have come out of their holes in the last 2 years.
Mind you, Skaife does crack the sads when things go badly.

Murph would have to be one of the worst but in a good way, it's all entertainment.
Larry in the same way, yes he calls a spade a spade but it seems if you race Holdens you have to be outspoken about what everyone else is doing.
I know Larry's brother fairly well, he was the Mechanic at Woodlands GC for years and Ive been through the perkins pits a few times.
Great bloke to talk to and if you want to get technical he is happy to oblige as long as your not getting in the way of business.
It's just a bit of banter with most of these guys, as most of them regardless of what brand they race are still pretty good mates as are most people who work in the same industry as one another.
I was thinking about that today, how much of it is theatrics and how much genuine. They generally seem to get on, but when Murph was crackin the sads over being touched up by Lowndes... They get over it pretty quick.
Dick... he was a sad old man. (as in emotionally). I remember at Amaroo we had this crusty old tree on the edge of the track which was right on the tyre and earth wall (as was much of it). We always though that Dick would be the one to hit it and have the tree fall on him.
Larry I've seen in action enough at the race track... although I'd never really seen him with Jack much when he was a karter. Yeah, in typical engineer fashion, when he's happy hetalks.... and talks. When he's not... then he is very succinct and direct.
I agree though, there is more allegence in the fan base. A racer wants to drive.

I was ford back when it was Sierras and Dicky Johnson and then flipped when Lowndsy was on the seen with Holden but then followed him back to the better brand when he saw the light.
It is a shame that he hasnt been able to crack a championship with Ford and with the loss of sponsership doesnt look as though he will.
My FIL works for corinthian doors and they have pulled sponsorship for next year he told me the other day.
I dont know if that is public yet but they put out a memo to that effect so I suppose it is now.
If the Falcon goes by by and a FWD equivilent comes to town then Im pretty sure they will continue with the GrpA sort of structure with a highly controlled structure but with other brands.
Plenty of brands that would be elegable.......but nothing will compare to the old rivals.
taught by the greatest holden driver of all time.......Who went all hippy, came up with a weird and wonderful way of adding excessive weight to and already heavy car.
Holden then showed that they dont follow the rules with Brocky "owning" HDT but just not owning any of the creative control......and opps he tried to do something different to what Holden wanted.
Holden then fired him so he went and raced a Sierra....which was a Ford...
Holden then took him back with HSV and team brock to use him as an advertising tool.
And then pushed him into what really was a second class car for testing purposes only (was what I thought was what happened).
Brocky was the most telanted driver I have ever seen but Holden didnt do him all that many favours and he had some far out ideas that he really should have kept to himself.
As far as him teaching Lownds, yes he mentored him but he could drive well before Brocky got his hands on him but I doubt he would have got as far as he did without Brocky.
And yet another Comodore into the wall yeah hahahaha![]()
I think when Lowndes went to Ford that it made it look like he was in a really good car - which he was, but its good to see him develop the Fords into something competitive. This is by means to take anything away from Lowndes as an excellent driver.
Its a shame about Corinthian - theyre on target for some really good exposure today. Its a real shame. Mind you, I think they should also go away from Silver to something a lot more stark - but that may be irrelevant now.
I think Group A is where it was at. They just needed to work more on the parity issues. I still think that the BTCC is the best system that I've seen for mixed vehicles, though if they did reintroduce forced induction, then they're really have to muzzle that too, otherwise its just HP at the flick of a switch.
Cheers
