    O-town fuel wars!

How good is the fuel pricing.

Well, in Orange.... to be quite frank I don't buy fuel here. I'm well aware of all of the "Shop local" etc etc etc talk, but Orange is always priced sky high for fuels and are very very very slow to drop fuel prices. With a 150 litre tank I can carry enough diesel typically to just fill her up at Yetholme where Shell fuel is cheap when doing my odd Sydney runs.

Anyway, I had to fill up locally the other day and thought that I was getting great value (for Orange) when the diesel dropped to 163.9. Of course the next day it dropped to 161.9.

Well, today the new United servo opened up on the Molong Rd and the cost of diesel in town dropped by 10c per litre overnight!!!! and United is selling for 148 or 149 c/l

If this is what its going to be like, then I will shop local and I will support the servo that supports the community.
    Cheers
    Slunnie

    Excellent news Slunnie...

Send me a couple of drums

BTW, watch United, they often sell unbadged B5/B10...

Check the colour as you fill up!

It's still way too high IMO ......

My recollection of about 3 years ago : West Texas crude was around $65 a barrel and the A$ was around 60c to the US$, and petrol was around $1 a litre. ( I've looked for actual data to verfiy this but it is hard to find).

So under the same conditions now, why is petrol 40c a litre higher ?

I can understand some increase in processing and distribution costs, wages etc, but not 40% !

So I think we're still being ripped off. It's due to drop another 10c a litre in the next fewweeks though, if the underlying pricing factors remain the same.

    Absolutely.

    I think it's around 163.9 here ATM.
I don't even look anymore, I just go in, fill up and write the cheque....

Have to agree with you there Wayne, but not being an oiler not sure of the price of diesel. What I do remember was that on the ANZAC Day Weekend 2005 I went to the LROCV S1 Gathering at Horsham and was horrified when I had to pay $1.17/litre for petrol outside Melbourne when it had been around and under the $1.00 mark everywhere else.

I filled up at $1.40 for diesel...currently around $1.40-1.44...ULP has gone under the $1.30 mark in some places.

Ever since my brother, who used to burn three road trains of deisel a day, told me that BP is the best I have stuck to it and always buy it at the same place. I have always been hesitant to buy cheap deisel but as long as others do and united keeps the local price down I will appreciate their presence. we will fill the petrol vehicle there!

    Smile Orange fuel prices

Yep Orange fuel prices have been way too high (could say that about many regional cities though).

Have noticed the low prices at the new United servo. Am going to support them by filling up there today!!! Lets hope they are sustainable...
