    M10 Nutsert Tool for D2 Rear Bar

    Hi All

    Just trying to fit my home fabricated (a workshop would be nice) rear bar to the D2. Anyone in Brisbane (Southside would be good) got access to a nutsert tool capable of setting an M10 sized fitting.

    The bar is designed to use both holes in each of the standard rear bar brackets. (four nutserts in holes) Had also planned to use nutserts (probably M6 - M8) to hold a supporting strut bracket to the chassis on each side.

    I haven't done it for decades but I vaguely recall setting 'rivnuts' (I assume these are the same or similar to 'nutserts') by simply using a bolt and ordinary nut or two - maybe some washers also. Not sure of the sequence now so probably not much help but a play around and practise may solve your problem.

    Have solved the issues todate.

    Does spot welding a nutsert count as rough workmanship ?

    yep cause it wont work.... (forever that is)

    most rivnuts are anodised and its not uncommon for them to come apart after a little bit of vibration under load, the load may also pull the weld clear of the metal and then as the rivnut isnt collapsed properly it will just come out....
