Used to donate frequently - I was suitable for plasma donation, so was able to donate monthly, because they pump the red cells back into you so you don't get anaemic. Took more time, but hey, what's an extra 30 mins a month.
Had to stop a while back, and haven't checked the rules lately, but with the raft of pills I'm taking (mostly cholesterol-related) I don't know if I'm eligible.
I voted no . Only because i some tattoing done and not allowed to give blood for 12 months . once i have finished my tattoo's i will give blood once the ink has left the blood ;).
I have been a donor for 38 years now and have donated 107 donations in that time. My first donation was when I was about 19 in the services. Its a great thing and benefits many people through transfusions, plasma, red cells and bone marrow. I encourage everybody who can to join up and be a donor. Besides they have some some great nibblies on offer after you have donated like cheese/jatz bikkies,fruit cake,pancakes etc plus sometimes even sausage rolls and mini pies. Also it is a good way of keeping an eye on your weight and blood pressure which is monitored every time you donate. Get in there and do it.
I used to but they dont want it anymore now that it has Sotalol (heart meds) in it :D
I haven't been for years.
I used to till they worked out that I was the carrier of the mad cow disease:twisted:.
Would donate every 3 months and can fill the bag in under 3 mins.
My wife has a rare blood type but every time she tries to donate they give up after an hour and only 1 test vial. She has tried all the sujestions they make but just doesn't bleed:angel:.

About 18months ago I went to donate, filled out all the forms, the very personal sexually orientated questionare, waited for 1/2hr got to the interview repeated all the personal questions to a real life person got to the last question and answered her that I am a pom. She told me I may have mad cow and could not give blood. I told her it would explain a lot. I walked out of the interview room as the little blonde nurse smiled and asked if I''d like to lay down, when I informed her that I couldn't, she and the other volunteers gave me a eeewww look most likely thinking I was a swinger, a john, a poof or a junkie, I told her in a loud voice that I may have mad cow desease and walked out mooing. I was hurt....
I can't either, mad cow disease as well.
it's funny how they still want my organs when I snuff it though

got some virus in my spinal fluid when i was 21, dormant at moment but can flare up any time again. has only re emerged twice in 18 years
