The driver would have been half asleep !!
Note the exhaust under the front bumper. I defy anyone to drive one with the window open ( oops I nearly said window down:wasntme:) for an hour and not be sleepy.( not you Sleepy) In fact they were well known as "sleep machines" in the early 70's.
The exhaust was there so the sigs could sit in the back all day with the motor charging the batteries. OK for them - hell for the driver.
