I logged injector faults when there was wiring in the loom and didn't clear this till years later. Were any or all of the faults cleared and which ones are still active

Erich, The 2 current ones were the ones I mentioned in my earlier post. The injector ones didnt bother me... They were old. I am just hoping someone can explain the CAN mode one.....

    03-07 Air flow circuit

    The other one was:

23-04 Unable to detect remote CAN mode

I would check the crank angle sensor. Missed that one when refitting my gearbox and it did the same thing would turn over, pump would run but no fire.
If they are not plugged in fully they can look connected but not work also.

I have the air flow fault logged currently in my Disco and it runs fine. Replaced the MAF reset plug pins etc etc ... but suspect a wiring fault. I don't know what the other alarm means.

IIRC, the only CAN bus in the D2 is between the engine and auto gearbox, so its unlikely to have anything to do with the engine not running.

I had a crank no start issue earlier in the year, found battery voltage to be critical. The td5 requires a full 12v to fire the injector for starting. Secondly I have also found some iron filings stuck to the crank angle sensor, causing the crank no start situation.

I am not familiar with D2 electronics, but surely if it is an auto, it won't start unless the ECU can determine that the transmission is in Park or Neutral.

That would inhibit the starter, which is not happening.

A CAN bus fault is a communication fault from memory, i had this when discowhite steam cleaned my engine at his work, he drove it back too me and it stopped, basicly the same as described by ZD, Phil managed to get it going again but it was going and stopping there were loud clicking noises coming from the main fuse box under the bonnet.

I took the car to Peter Davis at T.R.Spares and it had the normal fault codes + that CAN error, Peter reckoned it was a communication fault, the ECU is trying to talk to whatever is faulty but can't.

    Does that make sense

Maybe check all those large fuses behind the jack!!
