    Smile Naming a Land Rover

The newcomer emerges from the gathering and says... "My name is Hoodoo Brown and I'm addicted to Land Rovers"

I started with Meccano, graduated to BSA and Triumph, thence to a Morris Nomad and a Daimler sports car (an SP 250). Is there a cure or some medication ?

At what age do Land Rovers get a name ?? Any one have a 2007-8 RR sport with a name as yet? any Pumas with a nickname ? After all we start with "Thomas the Tank engine" and others.

At what age are the people who name Land Rovers ??? Is it childish ? Any younger fans trying to act grown up ?

Is this a British thing ???

I have happily and several bank accounts later have a Silver Freelander with 255Km for several years now. And could not possibly name it "Prudence".

I recently purchased, off this forum, a Red Disco TDI and now have this strange desire to differentiate between Land Rovers by naming them. Is this a further symptom?

Names that come to mind are,

    Pride and Prejudice
    Tommy and Tuppence
    Harold and Maude
    Noddy and Big Ears

    Any other suggestions ???

    HELP !!!!! Am I sane ???

    Nurse....I need my meds NOW.

I think it's a healthy thing to name your landy . A landy is part of the family and should be named . Everytime we need to go some where the kids will say " can we take Elmo " . they don't refer to it as the land rover or the disco but Elmo . Having a name helps you bond with your rig . Elmo has had a heap go wrong with him but i love him to bits and couldn't part with him at all . And i think because he has the name it makes it even harder to dislike him .

having the name hoodoo . how about you call them Voodoo and hooroo ? just a thought

Well... You Can't call it a P. O .S or a Dunga as already been claimed
Land Rovers all have character and as many as there are they seem to have a personality with quirks as as some hand built cars can. They also can have an authentic charm in time

So if they have personality they seem to get a name.

    It will grow in time

you name them once you get them....

Big red was named before we bought her and I had a bit of debate about what fozzy was going to be called so I put up a poll.....

you cant rename them once they've been named, If you dont name it and someone else does then thats what you get loaded with.

at times and at some places especially with some people in this crowd trying to use "the landrover" results in comment like, "Yeah ok, which Particular one are you talking about" which is made worse when 15 or so of us turn up at a get together and someone says something like "the landrover has a blown tail light" which usually results in at least half a dozen people saying "what again?" the other half saying "urm, could you be more specific about which one your talking about?"
    Dave

"In a Landrover the other vehicle is your crumple zone."

For spelling call Rogets, for mechanicing call me.
