The speed camera has been vandalised twoce so far. The first time it was painted. The second time three dudes with a white subaru ripped it out.
As of sunday just gone the tower was still missing.
Jacobs brakes on Semi's through Country towns and localities are a flipping menace too.
The leave them activated, even when it's flat
Some of the diesel locos (ex US) operated by a couple of the private rail operators that are hauling coal are damned loud too.
(God, I think I must be getting old.....)
I thought it wouldn't take long. As you live in Croydon can you confirm some additional information?
Is the camera between Croydon & Dorset Rd just after the very step hill in Croydon?
If so, what are the chances for low level speed infringements?
And finally according to my information, that stretch of road has a very low to almost non existent accident rate?
whats all the hoo ha about, they are only a problem if you speed, otherwise just ignore them,
je
The problem is "Big Brother". Excessive goverment and excessive surveillance, just in case you may break an arbitrary regulation set by politicians, police, and bureaucrats without regard to the level of risk or the prevailing circumstances. Despite the almost exponential improvements in roads and vehicles since the 1950's, and the falling road toll, our speed limits are almost the same as then. These installations and others are purely for taxation purposes. If governments were truly concerned about the road toll and motor accidents, then they would introduce a system of rigorous driver training and testing, and regular re-testing. This would reduce the numbers of licenced drivers by at least two thirds. It would also result in a change of government at the next election. "A most courageous decision, Minister" in the immortal words of Sir Humphrey Appleby.
:BigThumb:
Brian...you have done well. I could not have said it better.
I have been involved in local council traffic management and the views expessed by me would mean that NO politician would ever run with it.
The wannabe politicians was all about protecting their own backs, generate revenue and nothing to do with seriously lowering the road toll
