    New Speed Camera...

Victoria are testing what appears to be new permanent speed cameras.

This one is on Maroondah Hwy, Croydon.

The tube stores cameras to cover the three lanes of traffic.

These are the sensors which are at road level.

    And here is the link.....

There was a news item in the last few days about one of these (apparently) being damaged when pulled over by a tow rope attached to a white station wagon (apparently they missed the surveillance camera installed after it got painted). But I seem to remember it being on the Geelong Rd.

NSW is also installing sound level (noise) cameras. They should get a few Harley Davidsons!

Doubt it. Harleys are compliant unless the owners have fitted an after-market non-compliant system. The sound they make is part of the H-D image and is engineered into them.

Mazda did similar things to get the MX5 to sound like a British sports car of the 50's-60's.

OK, why is a HD with straight through pipes legal but a Jap bike with aftermarket muffler illegal?

That'll be interesting on multilane roads where combined noise outputs will be higher.

I guess the trick will be like what they used to do in the good ol' Amaroo raceway days..... just pipe the exhaust out to the other side of the car and away from the noise meter.
    Cheers
