18 months ago I had to replace the transfer case input gear on my LT230. The price from ashcrofts was 45 pounds which didn't seem too bad, but the freight cost of 75 pounds was way over the top. Total cost would have been over $300, I bought one locally for under $200 inc GST and would at least have a warrentee if there was a problem. Yes it pays to shop around, but freight is a killer.

    Hi,

The add ons not being factored in here are GST and duty.

If the cost of the part(s) INCLUDING freight / postage exceeds $1000 Aus then duty and GST is payable.

Takes the gloss off containers a bit.

    cheers, DL

I believe the $1000 limit excludes postage, but yep, what you are saying is true - changes the equation by the time you add duty and GST.

Duty is calculated on the value of the goods in AUD$, GST is the sum of value of goods + duty + freight/insurance, so it soon adds up. Car parts attract 10% duty and truck parts 5% - some items may be duty free.
