Unleaded fuel to be phased out in NSW

I know that FCAI is non Goverment body, but the Goverment is the one that has passed the legislation without considering the repercusions.

Why they are allowing to import the Citroen in Oz and people buy them in a good faith when Citroen will void the warranty if E10 is used in their vehicles.
How many more new or used vehicles can not operating with E10 and are allowed be on the yards for people to buy them unaware of the problems ahead?

I believe that this is another legislation which has been passed without looking into the implications.

To be honest, I'd be pretty sure that all Citroens sold in Australia would have a manufacturer recommendation of a minimum 95 RON which is premium. So, they shouldn't be using the stuff with ethanol anyway?

Unless i read this wrong it said,

so the senior ministers got together and voted to legislate!!
not introduced a bill that has been debated and agreed upon by all members of government. and still has to be sent to the legislative council. I am on the mailing list of one of the members of the council and nothing on E10 has come through in the past week.

A quick look at Hansard does not find any current mention of Ethanol in fuel, the last mention was in 2005.

This may just be a headliner for the sake of headlining.
Not a forgone conclusion yet, so for you chicken little fans the sky has not started falling yet!

All the BPs around my area no-longer sell straight 91 RON - they only sell a fuel that "contains up to 10% ethanol".

For what it's worth, I've been using BP & Mobil ethanol in my 10yo Falcon without any adverse effects for about 1 year, nor do I notice any difference in fuel economy over a mix of very heavy city driving, freeway and country.

Citroen drivers are as responsible as you are for the fuel they use in their cars. :)

As the FCAI doc says "if in doubt, consult the manufacturer" (or similar).

Just for the record, I'm not in favour of "lowest common denominator" legislation - even for Citroen drivers. :D:D:D

Your point on Citroens is moot, as 95+ RON fuels will not contain ethanol.

I put Citroen as an example and in any case for the general public the informations is not very clear
